
Cathrine Raben Davidsen Art
Cathrine Raben Davidsen (b. Copenhagen, Denmark) is a Danish artist whose work explores existential themes of life, death, and transformation, weaving together human experience, nature, and myth. Drawing inspiration from art history, philosophy, mythology, and literature, her practice spans painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, and collaborative design projects in stage and costume design.
She earned her MFA from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, studying also in Florence and The Hague. Her work is held in major collections such as The National Gallery of Denmark and Kunsten Museum of Modern Art Aalborg, and she has created commissions for The Royal Danish Ballet. Among her accolades is The Beckett Art Prize, and in 2015, she was appointed Knight of the Order of the Dannebrog.
Davidsen’s dedicated studio store in Copenhagen showcases ceramics, prints, and artist books, offering insight into her creative process. She is represented internationally by Nilufar Gallery (Milan) and The Future Perfect (New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco).
Recent solo exhibitions include Let Everything Happen to You at Copenhagen Contemporary (2024), featuring over 130 works spanning her career, and Hybrid (2023) at the Museum of Religious Art in Lemvig, which explored themes of hybridity through new works and archival material. In 2025, she participated in the group exhibition New Blood at the same museum, focusing on religious themes, and recently opened Eksistens at Esbjerg Museum of Modern Art.
