MICHAEL UBBESEN Casiraghi’s work intrigues me for its rare balance of elegance and playfulness. In Luigi, modernity and history flow seamlessly together: textures create intimacy, bold combinations add edge, and light shapes the atmosphere with precision. What appeals to me most is this balance, where proportions feel carefully measured while the atmosphere remains imaginative and deeply personal.

The story behind the project
Nestled in Cannes since 1956 and crowned with local affection as “Luigi,” this storied bar and piano-restaurant was given new life by Fabrizio Casiraghi in 2021. While he preserved its intimate allure and iconic history, Casiraghi breathed fresh elegance into the space - curating lamplight against Lalique glass, restoring the rich Riva-wood bar, and accenting the glowing ceiling with refined sophistication. The atmosphere pulses with romance and Italian charm, all underscored by live jazz and a menu that pays homage to classic Venetian tastes - from Bellini aperitifs that evoke Piazza San Marco to indulgent pastas, veal Milanese, and exquisite desserts by Chef Géraldine Rapp that seduce every sense.
This project reflects Casiraghi’s signature approach: a seamless blend of heritage and modernity, where craftsmanship, atmosphere, and local storytelling converge to create spaces that feel timeless - yet distinctly alive.
