Inaugurated on April 19, 2024, during the 60th Venice Biennale, the Vincenzo De Cotiis Foundation is a striking testament to the dialogue between contemporary art and Venice’s rich historical heritage. Nestled within the 15th-century Palazzo Giustinian Lolin on the Grand Canal, the foundation was established by Italian architect and artist Vincenzo De Cotiis and his wife, Claudia Rose De Cotiis, who also serves as its president.
The foundation’s inaugural exhibition, Archaeology of Consciousness Venice, presents three monumental arches crafted from Murano glass, marble, and fiberglass. These sculptures, symbolizing the past, present, and future, transform the courtyard into a metaphysical space visible from the Grand Canal, merging Venice’s architectural grandeur with avant-garde artistic expression.
Beyond exhibitions, the foundation enriches the city’s art scene through public installations, publications, and cultural events, fostering a deeper understanding of contemporary creativity. The De Cotiis’ dedication to Venice is evident in the careful restoration of Palazzo Giustinian Lolin, preserving its historic essence while introducing modern design elements.
